Within two years of the start of every one of the three previous recessions, GDP had rebounded significantly—to 4 percentage points above where it was when the downturn began. But 31 months after the start of the current recession, GDP was still below its starting point. The employment situation is even worse. In the nasty recession of 1981-82, the economy had regained the jobs it lost within just 26 months. This time around, we still have 5 percent fewer jobs than at the recession’s start in December 2007.</p>

<p>Thank you all for your hard work and dedication in  making Jerry the Republican nominee for U.S.  Senate-but our work is far from  finished.  We now have a general election campaign against yet another Democrat  who supports the policies of President Obama and Nancy Pelosi, higher government  spending, and more debt.  There are only 63 days until the general election and  we need your help.  There are still community events across the state and many  opportunities to continue to spread the word about Jerry&#8217;s positive message and  his record working to create jobs, eliminate wasteful spending, and reduce our  massive national debt.</p>

<p>Throughout September and October, the campaign will be  participating in numerous community events and campaign activities.  Upcoming  events include:</p>

<p>Please join us as we walk in parades sharing Jerry&#8217;s  plan to restore Kansas commonsense to Washington.  Team Moran will be waving  signs, carrying our banner and pumping up the crowd as we hand out literature  and stickers to parade goers.  Parades are great events for the entire  family-bring the kids and join in the  fun!</p>
<p><strong>September 6<sup>th</sup>:   Louisburg Labor Day  Parade</strong><strong>.</strong> Join us with the folks  of Miami County as we mark the end of summer with a terrific Labor Day  celebration.  <strong>Line up starts at 9:30  a.m.</strong></p>
<p><strong>September  11<sup>th</sup>:  Olathe Old Settlers Days  Parade.</strong> The largest parade in the State of Kansas.  Join the  thousands of Johnson County residents who celebrate this historic  event.  <strong>Line up starts at 9:00  a.m.</strong></p>
<p><em>We are also in need of folks willing to help staff our  campaign booth during the Old Settlers Festivities on Thursday, September  9<sup>th</sup> thru Saturday, September  11<sup>th</sup>.  If you have even a half-hour or an hour to spare,  your help is appreciated!</em></p>

<p>In addition to  parades, <strong>Team Moran is hitting the streets with the Kansas  Republican Party</strong>, taking our Republican message to voters door-to-door.   Lace up your sneakers and <strong>j</strong><strong>oin us in Johnson County, September 12th for our Super  Sunday kick-off.</strong> We will team up with our friends from the many other  Republican campaigns.  The afternoon begins at 1:00 p.m. with lunch at the  Johnson County Republican Party Headquarters, 12651 Metcalf Ave. in Overland  Park.  If you&#8217;d like to join us, an RSVP is appreciated but not  required.</p>
