Due to low humidity and dry conditions, and increased incidents of fire across the Johnson County area, a temporary ban on all open burning has been issued for the protection and safety of citizens and the preservation of property.
The ban prohibits all outdoor burning, including open fires, outdoor fireplaces, cooking grills, fire pits, bonfires and yard chimineas. Citizens are reminded to always dispose cigarettes in approved fire safe containers. Do not discard cigarettes from vehicles or in areas of grass, mulch, brush or leaves.
No open burning permits will be issued until the dry environmental conditions and low humidity have improved, and the threat of fires has decreased.
Notification will be made when the burn ban is lifted.
