Note the Events page. http://www.fairtaxkc.org/events.html There will be no regular third Thursday night meeting in December. Too many distractions, holiday travel, etc. Our regular monthly meetings will begin next year on January 20, 2011. In the mean time, we have many opportunities to promote our educational mission.

December 7th – Hutchinson with the Patriot Freedom Alliance at 6:30 pm at the Ramada Hotel (formerly the Grand Prairie Hotel), 1400 N Lorraine Street Hutchinson, KS 67501. Earl Long, Doug Friedrichsen and John Collet from FairTaxKC will be making the presentations. Jinny Walz is the hostess.

December 11th – Kansas State Senator Thomas C (Tim) Owens is having another Town Hall Forum at the Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty Street, Overland Park, KS 66204 at 10 a.m. He has invited members of the House of Representatives whose districts are part of the 8th Senate District and will introduce any who participate in the forum. They are, Amanda Grosserode (16), Jim Denning (19), Rob Bruckman (20), Greg Smith (22) and returning incumbent Mike Slattery (24).

The Forum is an open opportunity for the public to speak with Senator Owens and the Representatives from the House about any issue that concerns them and specifically relates to the upcoming Legislative Session. Economic challenges and tax reform will be huge issues before the legislature in 2011. The FairTaxKC organization has requested time to make a brief presentation and answer questions concerning the FairTax agenda. Senator Owens welcomes the presentation as part of the forum and will entertain a Q and A period following the presentation.

There will be others in attendance that may have questions and there may be other issues of discussion in the 2 hour forum, such as education, immigration, annexation and other issues that the people are concerned about and would like to address with their representatives.

December 17th – Wyandotte County Chamber of Commerce, at 2 pm, 1017 N 7th St (lower level of the YWCA) Cindy Cash is our hostess. We seldom get a chance to address this prestigious organization.

The issue of State budgets and regaining jobs in both Kansas and Missouri has never been more challenging. The problem and the solution is described by Jonathan Williams’ book “Rich States, Poor States”.
