Illinois Senate: Giannoulias 44%, Kirk 41% — Rasmussen
The U.S. Senate race in Illinois is now a virtual toss-up, with Democratic State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias holding a slight 44% to 41% lead over Republican Congressman Mark Kirk.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in the state finds just five percent (5%) who prefer some other candidate and 10% who are still undecided.
The race between the two men has seesawed for months. Following last month’s party primaries, Kirk held a 46% to 40% lead over Giannoulias. In December, Giannoulias was up by three points over Kirk. In October, the two men were tied at 41% each. In mid-August, Kirk held a narrow 41% to 38% lead.
