Todd Tiahrt on Immigration – the forgotten issue

I am writing today about an issue the mainstream press seems to have forgotten about – but is now more important than ever. I am talking about the issue of Illegal Immigration.

With more and more Americans facing unemployment, and the liberals in Washington doing nothing to alleviate the problem, it is crucial that we protect American jobs for American workers. With government spending out of control, we must act to ensure that government benefits go to the American people – not to those who entered this country illegally.

I oppose Amnesty in any form. Adherence to the rule of law is a critical aspect to US citizenship, and I will not reward those who have broken our laws.

I am opposed to the DREAM Act. This bill would allow younger illegal immigrants to gain in-state tuition at US institutes of higher education. This would only encourage additional illegal immigration.

I support increased Border Security and e-Verify Technology. Securing our borders and employment verification must be the top priority. Undocumented entry and working illegals in this nation are simply unacceptable.

That is why I have been working closely with groups such as the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) to propose and pass commonsense immigration reform measures. These efforts have earned me the “Blue Ribbon” designation from Numbers USA, a leading immigration think tank. This designation is saved for those members of Congress who have thrown their full support behind all of the active bills that most likely solve our current immigration problems.

This is a designation I am very proud of, and this is the type of representation you can expect from me as your next Senator.

Thank you for your time, and your support.
