Jerry Moran Announces County Campaign Chairs

More than 130 people will lead grassroots effort in all 105 counties

Kansas First District Congressman and U.S. Senate Candidate Jerry Moran (R-Hays) announced today an impressive list of county leadership in all 105 Kansas counties. Moran’s grassroots campaign will be led by 135 individuals who are active members of the Kansas counties and communities they live in.

“These Kansans come from all facets of life, and they have tremendous energy and passion,” Moran said. “Most importantly, they want to see conservative, common-sense Kansas values returned to the United States Senate. I am grateful to each one of them for joining my campaign.”

Individuals supporting Moran include four current mayors (Gary Ganz of Ness City, Dale Olgesby of Galena, Blake Jorgenson of Ottawa, Keith Smith of Lacygne); 22 county commissioners; and three former state legislators. The addition of all the county chairs gives Moran a dynamic grassroots organization and strong momentum, as he continues to lead in the polls, fundraising and key endorsements.

Moran Wins Informal Salina Journal Poll

The Salina Journal ran an informal poll on its web site last week (Jan. 31-Feb. 6) asking readers to pick their choice for the Senate race. Moran won the poll with 53.54 percent of the vote; U.S. Rep. Todd Tiahrt finished second with 44.42 percent and Robert Londerholm received just more than 2 percent of the votes cast.

Moran is the leading candidate to replace retiring Sam Brownback in the U.S. Senate. Moran has endorsements from six current U.S. Senators: Richard Burr (R-NC), Tom Coburn (R-OK), Jim DeMint (R-SD), Mike Johanns (R-NE), John McCain (R-AZ), and John Thune (R-SD). Former U.S. Sen. Jim Talent (R-MO) and former U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO) also back Moran’s candidacy.
