The jury is in: Toyota may or may not have a serious quality-control problem. Under government pressure Toyota “voluntarily” recalled cars reportedly subject to sudden acceleration. Some of the acceleration is attributed to pedal mechanics, the rest to floor-mat interactions, but auto industry professionals tend to be skeptical of both, suspecting driver error and panic account for many reported problems.
