Tiahrt raises just $195,000, spends $271,000, cash-on-hand of $1.32 million

Jerry Moran continues his commanding fundraising and cash-on-hand advantage over Fourth District Congressman Todd Tiahrt in the race to succeed Sam Brownback. In the fourth quarter, Jerry raised almost $404,000, while spending $167,000.  Tiahrt raised just $195,000, while spending more than $273,000. For a second consecutive quarter, Tiahrt has engaged in deficit spending on his campaign, perhaps reflecting his Washington habits.

Jerry has outraised Tiahrt in every financial quarter in this race for the U.S. Senate.  Jerry now holds a cash-on-hand advantage of almost $2.4 million.  During the fourth quarter, Jerry’s cash-on-hand went up almost $240,000.  Meanwhile, Tiahrt’s cash-on-hand continues to drop, this time by more than $78,000.

Latest SurveyUSA Poll Numbers

SurveyUSA, in conjunction with KWCH-TV Wichita and KCTV-TV Kansas City, released a new poll on Feb. 1, showing Jerry expanding his lead over Tiahrt to 7 points and support for Tiahrt dropping.

The poll reinforces that Jerry holds a decisive lead among various constituencies.  He holds large leads by gender, party affiliation, ideology, and nearly all age groups.  Most revealing is the pivotal area of northeastern Kansas where Jerry holds a 15 point lead.  This area, which includes Johnson County, is considered “neutral” ground since neither candidate represents the area.

Jerry also has key endorsements from a number of leading U.S. Senators including Richard Burr (R-NC), Tom Coburn (R-OK), Jim DeMint (R-SD), Mike Johanns (R-NE), and John Thune (R-SD). Former Sen. Jim Talent (R-MO) and U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO) are also backing Moran.
