WSJ — Army Green: Ft. Irwin Has Builders for 500 MW Solar Project

The U.S. Army settled on the private-sector companies needed to build the 500-megawatt solar-power project at Ft. Irwin that was announced in October: Clark Enterprises and Acciona, a Spanish renewable-energy developer. The project, a mix of photovoltaic panels and newer, solar thermal technology, could eventually be expanded to 1,000 megawatts, the Army said.

The solar deal is part of the military’s recent push to change how it uses energy, both at bases in the U.S. and overseas.
