Former Congressman Jim Ryun Endorses Huelskamp for Congress (KS-1)
From Tim Huelskamp:
FOWLER — Former Kansas Congressman and world-class Olympic athlete Jim Ryun has endorsed Tim Huelskamp for Congress (KS-1).
In a letter to his political donors, Ryun said Huelskamp has been “a top-notch Kansas state senator for more than a decade, earning many accolades including a lifetime A+ NRA rating — the endorsement of Kansans for Life — and Taxpayer Champion by AFP (Americans for Prosperity).”
Ryun will be the guest speaker at an upcoming fundraising event for Huelskamp on July 29.
Drawing an analogy between a relay race and politics, Ryun said: “It’s time to pass the baton to a new generation of conservative leaders who can continue the fight in the U.S. Congress — and Tim Huelskamp is the right man for the job.”
From 1996 until 2006, Jim Ryun represented Kansas’ 2nd district and was a strong conservative leader in the U.S. Congress. Now, he is working to help elect Huelskamp to the neighboring Big First District.
“We are tremendously honored to receive the endorsement and support of such a fine conservative leader as Jim Ryun,” said Huelskamp. “Jim was always willing to stand on principle — even when it wasn’t the easy political decision.”
