More than twelve years ago, I took a solemn Oath…
I do solemnly swear that I will support the constitution of the United States and the constitution of the state of Kansas, and faithfully discharge the duties of the office of the Senate of the state of Kansas, so help me God.
The words are serious and weighty – and I take them seriously. They guide every action I take as a State Senator. And they should – for I gave my word.
However, when we look at Washington today, we wonder — how many take their Oath of Office seriously? How many have actually read the Constitution they claim to uphold? Not many it seems…
Taxes increase. Debt expands. Federal government gets bigger. Liberty decreases. Constitution has been forgotten. And then the pattern repeats.
What has become of the Oath of Office in Washington? Seems like most folks Inside-the-Beltway forgot (or ignore) the weighty words they gave voice to when they took office…
They need to read the words of my favorite president Ronald Reagan. Just last night I finished a book about Reagan and was reminded of his Farewell Address delivered 20 years ago this past January…
Ours was the first revolution in the history of mankind that truly reversed the course of government, and with three little words: “We the people.” “We the people” tell the government what to do, it doesn’t tell us. “We the people” are the driver, the government is the car. And we decide where it should go, and by what route, and how fast. Almost all the world’s constitutions are documents in which governments tell the people what their privileges are. Our Constitution is a document in which “We the people” tell the government what it is allowed to do. “We the people” are free.
We the People.
What a revolutionary concept – more than 200 years ago – 20 years ago – and especially today!
Instead of government as the car – it has now become our driver.
They are now telling us what to do – not taking orders from those of us who put them in office.
Friend, it is time for We the People to take OUR government back Again. And we can do that by electing principled, proven conservative leaders who keep their oath of office – who cherish the Constitution – who work for the citizens, not the other way around.
We need your help today to make that happen. As a member of Congress, I will keep my Oath of Office – just as I have in the state Senate. I will not forget who is in charge – the People. But we have to work together to make that happen.
And with a fundraising deadline less than 2 days away, the time for Us to act is now. Can we count on you to make a financial contribution today? Would you please consider a contribution of $500, $200, $100 or even $25 right now? You can LINK HERE to make an online contribution.
We the People can change Washington – it can happen, it must happen. But only with Your help as soon as possible. Let’s put the People back in charge in Washington! They should represent Our Values – not theirs.
Serving You the People,
Senator Tim Huelskamp
