Johnson, Leavenworth counties get $2 million from porkulus

The Star:

Johnson and Leavenworth counties today picked up more than $2 million in federal stimulus money for road and bridge projects.

The projects were among 77 statewide sharing in $34 million for cities and counties outside the Kansas City and Wichita metro areas.

Neither Leavenworth nor Johnson County governments received a piece of the $50 million distributed to area governments earlier this month.

Johnson County received $846,000 to replace the 143rd Street Bridge over Captain Creek. The 50-year-old bridge is about a mile east of the Douglas County line.
