Star: February closing in Lenexa eliminates 155 jobs

The Star:

The closing last month of a Tennessee-based magazine and book wholesaler eliminated 155 jobs in Lenexa.

Wholesale distributor Anderson News LLC filed a layoff notice recently with the state of Kansas, indicating that the shutdown of its Lenexa distrubtion facility most likely was permanent.

Anderson Services/Prologix, the third-party logistics operation of Anderson News, was listed as the employer at 9605 Dice Lane in Lenexa.

Operations ceased in early February after Anderson News said it would have to immediately impose a surcharge to publishers in order to continue doing business. When its biggest customers balked, Anderson closed its facilities around the country, including the Lenexa office. Notices were posted at various locations telling employees not to report to work.
